How Centerpoint Shiatsu Can Help You

Coming to Centerpoint Shiatsu is an easy way to do something good for yourself. Massage and touch are known to create a sense of wholeness and balance in the body.

Shiatsu is a pressure point therapy that stimulates your body's innate self healing ability. It's great for common ailments such as headache, insomnia, back pain, frozen shoulder, sciatica and plain old computer neck. As a preventative or maintenance therapy, Shiatsu will also help you stay calm, relaxed and replenished as tension unwinds and you feel those achy, sore spots in your body slowly dissolve. Each treatment is tailored to your particular needs and pressure is adjusted to meet your comfort level.

Shiatsu therapy was developed in Japan in the early 1900s by Tokujiro Namikoshi who at a very young age cured his mother of rheumatoid arthritis. By the age of seven he had developed a healing technique using his palms and fingers to press on points on the body which he found to be much more effective than rubbing and massaging. Eventually, after studying both traditional Japanese and Western massage techniques, he went on to create his complete system of Shiatsu therapy and in 1964 the Japanese government recognized Shiatsu as an independent healing modality separate from massage therapy.
